Repair What You Wear

Learn how to make an impact by repairing rather than replacing clothing and other cloth household items.

Sustainable Fashion is the fashion you already own. Extending the life of clothes by an extra nine months of active use would reduce carbon, water, and waste footprints by around 20–30% each.

On Earth Day, 2023, learn to repair what you have, rather than buying new. Redesign an existing item of clothing or household textile to save money and the planet.

Hands on skills to learn during the workshop:

  • Fabric identification

  • How to sew on buttons

  • Creative ways to reclaim textiles and turn them into wearable art

Materials needed:
Bring a used cotton T shirt or pair of jeans or a household textile with a small hole or rip in need of a simple repair.
